Mini-Mock Exam
This exercise will take up to three lessons. In the first lesson students will plan (collectively) each of the below essays.
In the second lesson students will spend 10 minutes planning and then 40 minutes writing an answer to one of the four essay questions (students should do the essay which relates to the initial of their surname [Smith = S]). Remember - do NOT simply write about the subject - answer the question.
(1) (a) Does the presidents cabinet fulfil any useful functions? (b) Is it more or less important than the EXOP? [Surnames A-F]
(2) How can a presidnet succesfully coordinate the work of his administration? [G-L]
(3) Assess the dfficulties that presidents face in their dealings with Congress. [M-R]
(4) Assess the accuracy of Pilffners's claim that the presidency is not a powerful office. [S-Z]
Students have 55 minutes to answer each question. 15 minutes to plan (using a textbook) and then 40 minutes to write an answer (without a textbook). After the essay has been completed it should be handed to your Laws Teacher so s/he can glance over it and retain it for the next lesson.
In the final and third lesson the essay answers will then be 'peer marked'.
