Mini-Mock Exam
This exercise will take up to three lessons. In the first lesson students will plan (collectively) each of the below essays.
In the second lesson students will spend 10 minutes planning and then 40 minutes writing an answer to one of the four essay questions (students should do the essay which relates to the initial of their surname [Smith = S]). Remember - do NOT simply write about the subject - answer the question.
(1) Examine the arguments for and against codified constitutions. [Surnames A-F]
(2) Assess the extent to which the judiciaries of the USA and UK are politically independent - explaining any checks that may exist? [G-L]
(3) Examine the means by which rights and liberties are safequarded in both the USA and the UK. [M-R]
(4) 'The main difference between the constitutions of the USA and the UK is that one is flexible and the other is not.' Discuss. [S-Z]
Students have 55 minutes to answer each question. 15 minutes to plan (using a textbook) and then 40 minutes to write an answer (without a textbook). After the essay has been completed it should be handed to your Laws Teacher so s/he can glance over it and retain it for the next lesson.
In the final and third lesson the essay answers will then be 'peer marked'.
