MOOTING COMPETITION

The Grand Final of the  Mooting Competition took place on Wednesday 16th July 2003.

The winning team and prize winners were Tom Robson (Senior Counsel) and Hayley Taylor (Junior Counsel). Runners up prizes went to Paul Powlesland (Senior Counsel) and Meral Yalcinder (Junior Counsel). However as one of the Judges, Dr Jepson, remarked - "the real winners were all the students who took part in the mooting competition"...

The purpose behind the competition is to have some fun while developing an understanding of the core principles of necessity and duress of circumstances - i.e. related to the doctrine of judicial precedent.  A knowledge and understanding of these elements is vital for the examinations in May/June 2004.
