The 'ILEX Legal Studies - Assignment Contract' (see C4 below) should be signed by staff and students. Only the 'ILEX Moderation Panel' can extend/change assignment submission deadlines (your Laws Tutor/Teacher cannot).

Appeal Process: Any student who is unhappy with their assignment grades (or on any other issue - including being excluded from the 'ILEX Legal Studies Course' for failing to submit a task/assignment in accord with the 'ILEX Legal Studies - Assignment Contract') does have a right to make an appeal to the 'ILEX Moderation Panel'. Appeals should be submitted - in writing - to Dr Peter Jepson (Chair of the 'ILEX Moderation Panel', Strode's College). Please see your Laws Teacher, Personal Tutor, or Learning Support, if you require advice or help with making such an appeal.

Moodle online multi-choice tests

The student and NOT the Laws Teacher is responsible for fulfilment of the 'ILEX Legal Studies - Assignment Contract'. The student is solely responsible for their own tasks/assignment materials. The student must maintain copies at all times (both online and in a file). When submitting tasks/assignments for insoection/assessment the student MUST maintain a file copy. Once a task/assignment has been inspected the student should also keep the returned copy until it is submitted for final submission/assessment. Students should note that we do not normally allow more than one re-sit of the multi-choice examination in the same year.

The ‘Level 2 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Legall Studies’ course is designed to prepare students for employment in a job where the basics of law could be useful (a basic knowledge of law can be useful if you plan to work in the retail trade, in leisure services, in general business, in security, or in a paralegal capacity - such as court clerks, in a solicitors/barristers office, or in an advice centre). The course is delivered via your Laws Tutor/Teacher, using these materials and the relevant Legal Studies Coursebook. There is no formal sit down GCSE style examination - with candidates assessed through necessary homework assignments and a multi-choice question paper.
