Essay CIT-5 - 'Explain and assess the way in which local and/or national government has reacted to a campaign known to you.'

Guidance: The key part of answering this essay successfully is planning. You need to find a campaign that has had an impact. It would be preferable if you pick a campaign close to you, such as Heathrow, Jamie Oliver’s School Dinners, Greenpeace or even such as your local shops closing. It will be necessary to explain how the campaign works, how many people are involved and the tactics that they are using. There are different ways of defining these ideas and you can look at both direct and indirect tactics, insider/outsider politics. Try researching these terms. Once you have researched the campaign you need to find examples of the responses from both local and national government. This will involve more research. Make sure you reference the sources you use.

Introductions and conclusions are always important, however, in an essay with this most scope they are vital. Your introductions need to highlight the campaign you are studying and what the conclusions are. State your research methods.

The hidden premise in this question is ‘how responsive is government in meeting the needs of the people.’ Has local/national government been responsive or was it not responsive enough?

Follow the 'Essay writing guidance'. You MUST attach a self-assessment sheet. Hand in your homework early.
