The recommended reading text is 'Criminal Law' by Diana Roe.

Students should also make use of a Criminal Law Cases and Materials book (for example: 'Criminal Law Text, Cases and Materials' by Jonathan Herring.

Special study materials for G154 can be found in Appendix 2 of 'OCR Criminal Law for A2' by Jacqueline Martin, or downloaded from here. Students should also download the attached Skills Pointer Guide.

Prior to the delivery of ss13 and ss15 students should read and precis Chapters 14 and 17 of 'OCR Law for AS' by Jacqueline Martin. Take your notes to class so they can be checked at the start of the lesson.

Students should also start preparing SS17 now.

Prior to the delivery of ss15 students should produce detailed read and precis notes from Chapter 6 of 'Criminal Law' by Diana Roe. Also, compare Chapter 9 of 'OCR Criminal Law for A2' by Jacqueline Martin. Take your precis notes to class so they can be checked at the start of the lesson.        

ss16 - Non-fatal Offences Against the Person [PowerPoint] & [Pdf Print file]

ss17 - Student delivery of their Special Study PowerPoint Presentations on necessity and/or duress.

ss17 - Working in pairs (small Law Firms) - produce an iMindmap timeline showing the development of the law - for Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person (in this timeline reflect precedent and relate to the special study materials).

ss18 - Storytelling - encouraging creativity

ss19 - Produce detailed case notes for all cases on the time-line(s) - show precedent.

ss20 - Produce detailed read and precis notes for the Stretch & Challengearticles. To be followed by class discussion.

ss21 - Conduct a detailed and criticial look at the special study materials. Brake up into small Law Firms - each Law Firm to present one of the specials Study items to class using the iMindmap software.

ss22 - We will give consideration to reform issues and evaluate the types of examination questions that could arise - for each of the special study sources.

If time permits, we will run a mini-mooting competition making use of the special study materials.
