Democracy, Active Citizenship and Participation

Within the College Library there is a very good online facility called 'Issues'. Ask the Librarian how you can access these resource materials, since they provide excellent Citizenship information.

Timetable for delivery: The aim is to deliver each part of the syllabus within a two week cycle. So, for example C1 (i.e. all parts) within a two week teaching cycle. Likewise, C2 etc.

You should print off the intranet materials prior to class - taking them with you to the lesson.

Term activity

Each student should examine their local newspapers and good quality national newspapers (e.g. The Times, The Guardian etc) and bring to class for the first lesson of every week a news story relevant to Citizenship.

Be prepared to share your news story with the class at the start of the lesson. Keep your newspaper cuttings in a portfolio (as examples to use in your work).
