Laws Students and 'The Begum Case'

Students from The Department of Laws at Strode's College, Egham, have been invited - by Ms Jenny Rowe (Chief Executive Designate of the UK Supreme Court) - to give their views on the case of Regina (SB) v Governors of Denbigh High School [2006] UKHL 15.

The case, known as the Begum case, concerns the conflict between a school uniform and the wearing of a jilbab (see photos). In this case, the House of Lords overturned the decision of the Court of Appeal and allowed the appeal of the Governors - thereby denying the right of SB to wear the jilbab at Denbigh High School.
