Q1 – Describe the training of barristers and solicitors. [20 marks]

• Within each Sub-heading  (Academic Training etc) discuss the issues – try to give examples and opinions.
• Try to give an overview.
• Give a brief overriding conclusion.

Q2 – In what circumstances can a solicitor/barrister be held liable for any professional negligence? [20 marks]

• Plan an answer to the question (use sub-headings in your essay).
• Possible structure: Rondel v Worsley (Not liable for bad advocacy) - Salif Ali (liable for bad advice) - Hall v Simons (explaining the outcome of the case and current position).
• In your introduction explain how you intend to answer the question.

• Give a brief overriding conclusion

General Advice: Plan your answer and make sure that you answer the question (do not simply write about the subject). Demonstrate that you are answering the exam question by continually relating back to the essay title. Remember the marks are in the discussion – explain your thinking. Brief answers are inadequate and get low marks! Use ALL of the allocated twenty minutes sensibly
