PowerPoint Presentation Awards

A certificate prize will be given for the best presentation in each class.

The aim of this exercise is to help develop independent learning. Thus, you will be researching areas that have not so far been fully considered in classes.

Each student should produce a PowerPoint presentation of approximately 20 minutes duration (no more than 30 minutes) on one of the following topics for the first AS Law lesson after Easter (hand in a print out of the presentation on this date and have a copy on a zip drive so you can deliver to class):

1) The Pros and Cons of Britain's membership of the EU. (You should consider issues such as Parliamentary sovereignty and how EU law is made.) This topic is for students whose surname starts with A-G.

2) What are the arguments for and against the doctrine of judicial precedent and how effective is this doctrine? This topic is for students whose surname starts with H-M.

3) What are the arguments for and against delegated legislation? (You should explain how legislation is passed by Parliament and also consider why delegated legislation is needed.) This topic is for students whose surname starts with N-Z.)

You are expected to produce a well researched and detailed piece of work, referring to case law and statutes as appropriate.

Any student who fails to meet the deadline of the first AS Law lesson after Easter will also need to produce an essay on: 'Law Reform: What is it, how does it come about, and why is it important?.'
